What’s new at Fujairah Adventure Park

The attraction opened in 2019 as a standalone skate park with an 1,800 square meter asphalt pumping track. While this is good news for avid skaters and BMX enthusiasts, it closed in mid-2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic and only recently reopened with a number of new activities.

One of these activities, and the one most likely to grab your attention the first, is land hopping. Residents of the United Arab Emirates can rent bikes and practice their jumps on a series of four mud or wood trails. The beginner jumps are to the right, while the more intermediate jumps are in the middle and the more difficult ones are to the left.

The park is also home to a climbing wall and a children’s play area for young, experienced cyclists.

Other facilities include restrooms, bicycle rental, a first aid room, and a cafe with indoor and outdoor seating.

“Fujairah Adventure Park is the first of its kind in the region for the whole family,” said Saeed Al Maamari, general manager of Fujairah Adventure Center.

Amr Zeineddin, director of operations at Fujairah Holding, which manages the management of Fujairah Adventure Park, says it was designed to attract adventure seekers to Fujairah. “We started out with hiking, climbing and mountain biking and then focused more on mountain biking.”

According to Zeineddin, everything has been created to international standards, with the Flow tracks specially created to attract cyclists from all over the world during the winter months.

“The highlight is the nature found here, which is truly unique. We had to think about the natural features – the mountains, the rocks, the amount of rain – when designing the trails, ”he says.

According to Zeineddin, the staff are properly trained and have cycling experience.

Upcoming – outdoor cinema, group tours and more

The first phase of the park – hiking, biking and other facilities – are now open to the public. However, in the coming weeks, the park has more ambitious plans.

“We will be launching an outdoor cinema in the coming weeks that will show two types of evening films – one for children and one with an adventure theme,” Zeineddin said.

The park also offers group activities. One of these activities is the Emirati Experience, in which an Emirati guide will take visitors on a morning hike using traditional poles, after which they will explore a traditional village to see how the people used to live.

Phase two of the project, which won’t start until next season, includes a restaurant, mountain capsules for overnight stays, barbecue and camping for families, and activities for children, he says.

“We want people to come here and be informed about Fujairah, its history, nature and culture,” says Zeineddin.

Our experience

Although we didn’t try any of the hiking trails, we did venture out on the Beginner’s Flow Trail.

The process is pretty straightforward. You can rent your bike at the store or bring your own.

A shuttle service is available to take you and your bike to the start of one of the trails.

This is where the simple part ends: the trails for skilled adventure seekers, with rocky terrain, had a lot of bumps while the wind can manipulate the movement as well. But after a very wobbly start, it becomes easier to get used to it, let go and have fun. The views of Fujairah make it all the better. However, it is best to go early in the morning or in the evening as it can get extremely hot, especially if you are not visiting during the winter months.

Location, times and prices

Fujairah Adventure Park is centrally located, just two minutes drive from downtown Fujairah. However, it can be difficult to locate, as the entrance is along a dirt road leading to the mountains. While driving, if you reach the Tennis & Country Club, you have gone too far. Just turn around and you should find it on the same side as the Tennis & Country Club.

The park is priced at Dh10 per vehicle or Dh5 per person for walk-ins. The hiking and mountain biking trails are currently free. The pump track and dirt jumps can be used all day for an additional Dh40.

Visitors are allowed to bring their own bikes. If you don’t have your own equipment, bike rental prices start at Dh15 for a balance bike for an hour and a BMX bike for Dh25 for an hour. A full day bike rental costs Dh100. All bicycle rentals include helmets.

Fujairah Adventure Park is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends. Ramadan times may vary. For more information and reservations, call 0565111660 or 0565 155510 or visit their Instagram page.
