Ripon climbing gym set to open in April


The Alpine Climbing Adventure Fitness appears to be opening in April.

This is the steel-framed indoor climbing gym at Ripon Crossing Shopping Center, currently home to Les Schwab Tire Center, Tractor Supply Co. and Boat Country (soon: Burger King, Popeye’s Chicken, Shell Gas Station & Convenience Store with a Tommy’s Express Car Wash) – at 1450 Garrison Way.

“We are in the process of finalizing the block and children’s area as well as the rest of the finishing details for the construction part of the project,” said Jonathan Meek.

He is the resident of Ripon and the developer of the total 19,335 square foot climbing facility.

DeGraff Development takes care of the construction.

“Alpine’s 55-foot walls are fitted with ropes and climbing routes,” said Meeks, who recently enlisted the help of Joey Jannsen, US Climber of the Year. , for the opening set.

The gym will also feature free weights, cardio equipment, TRX, benches, medicine balls, mobility equipment, yoga, high-intensity intervals and cross-fitness classes.

Meeks has announced that a founding membership agreement will go on sale in the coming weeks.

Those who register will have a variety of climbing options. Top rope, automatic belay and leash will be included. Rental equipment for climbing shoes, harnesses and belay devices will be available at reception or for purchase in the gymnasium’s full-service retail store.
