UTICA – A rainy day in Starved Rock didn’t stop the LaSalle County 4-H Federation Youth Leadership Club from offering a day of hiking and backpacking project. Young people gathered at Starved Rock Lodge to learn important tips on preparing for a hike, proper backpacking needs, and packing first aid kits, plus enjoying a packed lunch. . Participants also enjoyed a scavenger hunt based on the challenges of Starved Rock history.

Following the project presentations, Federation leaders and delegates gathered for a business meeting to discuss business planning and community service ideas for the year 4-H 2021-2022. The Federation sponsors a variety of workshops and activities for 4-H and non-4-H members.
The federation is the grouping of young people from different clubs into a single representative group. Federation members focus on leadership training, decision making, county or unit event planning, and socialization.
